Back to a normal life
Ways out of traumatization, out of fears
I'm Diana, I'm 44 years old and live in Dresden.
I am mentally ill, due to multiple childhood abuse. I live with the diagnoses Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Attacks and Social Phobia. For a long time I lived in complete isolation, injured myself and attempted suicide. I survived, thanks to people like Adrienne and Marco.
Until today it is difficult for me to cope with my everyday life. To take up and cultivate contacts with other people are my big hanycap. Acting in groups of people or performing in a choir means huge effort for me. I accepted help. Outpatient therapy and 3 interval stays in a trauma clinic have strengthened and stabilized me over the last few years.
Adrienne Morgan Hammond and Marco Diefenbach accompany me since 2007, on my musical paths as well as in life. They give gospel workshops, in Germany and Europe. It is they who give me the courage and strength to continue to live and to sing. They take me as I am. They give me a chance to be a soloist despite my huge fears. I would never have dared to sing alone and trust myself. Through their gospel workshops I can, for a short time, forget my past. I get the feeling of belonging to it. Just because. I Diana belongs to the gospel choir and is allowed to sing. Solo - even if my voice fails because of panic attacks. They believe in me and my skills. They never gave me up. Her Worshops are healing therapy for me. I draw strength and slowly learn to allow feelings. I'm getting more and more confident in performing solos. The music opens the doors to trust and passion. It is my means of expression and brings me the inner liberation. Slowly I can perceive and allow feelings again. I am happy in gospel music.
In September 2019 I went to her Pop & Gospel Wohrshop in Mühlenbeck. I tried again as a soloist. The final concert was wonderful and I managed to sing my solo without a panic attack. That was a great success for me. I shared my joy with Adrienne and Marco.
In 2021, Adrienne and Marco drive to Adrienne's homeland, to America. It will be a gospel choir trip. This is my dream! Gospel singing, gospel feeling in America and singing together with other gospel choirs. My dream and my nightmare. Because of my social phobia and the panic attacks, I have never dared to go beyond the familiar environment and vacation in another country. My gospel choir dream could be an essential stopping place to try. Sing once in the gospel choir in America. That would be an incredible step forward for me, a huge step to defeat my fears. I would dare.
I can not take this step, unaided. I do not have the financial resources to fund this gospel choir trip. So I have no choice.
Having taken all my courage together, I ask you, with all my heart, to support my dream project. Every little donation brings me closer to my dream 2021.
Help me to overcome my fears and leave my past behind. Please help me to make my dream a reality.
With this step, I want to show other abuse victims that we too can lead a beautiful life. That together with others we can manage to master our lives and to become happy. We are strong with our weaknesses! Giving up is not an option.
THANK YOU with all your heart, for your support, Diana
