Dear Reader,I never thought I would find myself in such a desperate situation. I am 68 years old, have 4 children (three of whom are still at school and my daughter is a student). Although I have always been able to provide for myself for 50 years and have never asked for private or state assistance, I have to turn to you today to be able to feed my family and pay the rent, electricity, water and the costs of my daughter's studies from January 2025. 
I have been a freelance translator for 40 years and have always earned enough money. However, some customers have not paid recently and my wife has been very ill. Her treatment has also cost a lot of money. The order situation this year has also not been as good as in previous years. Therefore, all of my savings have been used up. I receive a small pension and will therefore have to work well into old age anyway. I don't mind that, because it keeps me mentally fit.
