Hello everyone,

On 5/1/2023 my family's home in Brazil was hit by a fire of unknown causes. The accident resulted in the destruction of two entire rooms, the laundry room, burned a large part of the kitchen and living room, damaged furniture, doors and windows throughout the house and seriously damaged the roof.  I'm living in Germany now and couldn't do much to help. But now I'm trying to help with the reconstruction. 

As we know, in the "third world" living conditions are very precarious. But we are proud to be a hardworking and united family! All together we invested our strength (physical strength even) helping to build our home: often without money to pay the workers, my father counted on the help of his children to build walls, carry materials or building the roof. Meanwhile, he was the one who worked making cement, concrete for the slab, laying bricks... It took almost ten years for our dream to materialize. Luckily the fire didn't take it all! 🙏🏾

 How did it happen:

In the videos one can see how big were the fire. It was mainly contained with the help of the neighbors, as the access (there is no street) made it difficult for the firefighters to arrive.

 When the fire started, one of my sisters (Isabel) was home alone resting. When she woke up the fire was already well advanced. She in desperation called my mother and another sister (Jouly) who worked in a house not far away.

Documents and photos were desperately thrown through the windows, as well as mattresses, furniture and everything potentially combustible, both to prevent the fire from getting bigger and to not lose all the family's memories. Meanwhile, neighbors filled pots with water to contain the flames (buckets and basins melted).

It was possible to save clothes, towels, bedding, and some household items, but unfortunately the structure of the house was badly affected and part of the roof had to be torn off to contain the flames.

 What do we expect to buy with the amount raised:

 Tiles, wood, windows, doors, roof structure, electrical wires, sockets, plumbing (fully damaged)

 Washing machine, fridge.
